Demo Update X Steam Next Fest Announcement

Whispering Memories will be participating in Steam Next Fest (Feb 23 – Mar 2), with the full release arriving shortly after on March 6. 🚂

To prepare for Next Fest, I’ve updated the demo to better reflect the current state of the full game. This is not just small polish — it includes new content, new systems, and major presentation upgrades we worked on for the full release.

If you played the previous demo, it’s worth another look.

    Story Updates

    • The demo now ends in Chapter 2 due to internal chapter restructuring.

    • Expanded Chapter 1 with a new School scene.

    • Expanded Chapter 2 with two new characters and a new Bedroom scene.

    • Improved overall story flow and pacing with additional dialogue.

    • The full game will feature 7 Chapters with multiple endings.

How will you shape your story?

    Characters & Relationships

    • Introduced the Affinity System, which affects character relationships.

    • Expanded character interactions and dialogue depth based on choices.

Your choices now quietly matter more than before.

    Audio & Atmosphere

    • Featuring 22 tracks from the OST, now integrated into the Music Room with titles.

    • New sound effects, including emotional SFX and a new cat meow(!).

    • Added expressive character voice “barks” during dialogue.

The game feels more alive — and occasionally more painful.

    Visual & Presentation Improvements

    • New backgrounds, including the School Classroom featured in the demo.

    • Backgrounds now also feature a cinematic entrance and mouse parallax.

    • New CGs added to the Gallery.

    • New character sprites and additional expressions.

    • Keychains now swing when you hover them. Yes, very important feature.

    • Added end credits.

Because we took the "Visual" part of Visual Novel very seriously.

    System & Quality Improvements

    • New Game Mode selection at the start: Immersive or Traditional.

    • Added a Scene Replay screen for unlocked scenes.

    • Improved save system for Steam Cloud compatibility.

    • Added more in-game Achievements — Steam integration for the full title.

    • Removed uncensored version support to streamline future updates.

    • General polish and stability improvements.

I’ll be around during Next Fest to read feedback, watch streams, and quietly panic in the background.

Thank you to everyone who’s supported the project so far!

More to come soon — see you in Starvale. 🚂
